So you want to get your business online but your not sure where to begin? We've created a guide to help you get started.

What you will need:
Domain Name
Site Design
Hosting
Site Manager

Your Business Identity

Once you have decided on your business name you will need a domain name, this is your online Identity that everyone will use to access your web site just like www.pinkinkwebdesign.com
There are many places to register your domain name like godaddy.com or ipage.com and prices do vary but you should be able to get a .com for around $12AUD or less or a .com.au for around the same price.
If your in Australia and have a registered business name you are entitled to apply for a .com.au domain but it's not a requirement however if your target audience is predominantly Australian then I recommend getting a .com.au.
Chances are you wont get your first choice domain name as it's usually taken but keep trying, sometimes if you add a number it can help, just try to pick a name that is easy to remember, spell and not too long.. good luck!

Your Web site Design

Ok so you have the business, you've decided on a name and now you need a website to showcase your business. There are a few different options, you could purchase a pre-made design from our Limited or OOAK designs or you can have one Custom made with your own theme, colours and graphics.

What type of site do I need?
This depends on the business you own, for instance if you are a hairdresser or cafe owner you wont need an online shop but a site that showcases your services, location and contact details, this is called an Information site just like an Online Business Card.
If you have products or services to sell online then you will need an E-commerce website (an online shop) which features a shopping cart. For more information on choosing the right e-commerce solution for you please click here.
If you want to be able to use your website for information and regularly update and interact with your visitors then a great option is a Wordpress site. Wordpress is a Blog style software that allows you to easily update and create your own web site. You can even add a shopping cart plug in to make your site a shop! check out our Wordpress packages for more details.

Hosting

Once you have your website design sorted you will need to host it with a hosting provider. A host provider stores all your files on their servers so that the world can access and see your web site.
Depending on the website you need

Managing your site

Once you have your website up and running you will need to manage it. This sounds daunting I know but don't worry once you are familiar with everything you will be your own Webmaster.
Each site designed by PinkInk Web Design comes complete with a CMS, what is a CMS you ask? it's a Content Management System allowing you to manage the content of your website easily without having to learn a whole new language. You might not need to edit your page often or you may want to edit your site every day It's up to you how much control you have over your site.
